On this day (5th August) in 1971 – Apollo 15 astronaut, Al Worden carried out the first deep space EVA (Extravehicular Activity)!
He exited the CM and made three trips to the SIM bay at the rear of the SM to retrieve film cannisters and check the equipment.
His total EVA time was 38 minutes, 12 seconds.
